Battery Park
Named after the cannons built to defend residents after the American Revolution. with statues and memorials in the park. Battery Park has a lovely promenade to stroll along that takes in the waterfront and has views of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. Walking and jogging is a very popular activity here. Located on the southwestern tip of Manhattan.

Central Park
A an 850 acre park in the centre of New York. Central Park was the first landscaped public park in the United States. The park offers over 840 acres of landscaped and recreational areas that include a zoo, a theater, sports facilities, lakes, food, entertainment and lots more. .

Hudson River Park

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
These gardens are a pleasant haven in the heart of the city. There are over 12,000 plants here covering 52 acres of land. Highlights here are the Bonsai Museum, Japanese Garden and the stunning roses. 900 Washington Avenue (718 623 7200)

Alley Pond Environmental Center
A wildlife haven is a rare find in New York City, but here is one. With over 635 acres of natural park and woodlands and marshes, it's a great place to watch some native wildlife and bird species. Located on the northeast of Queens Park.

New York Botanical Garden
One of the oldest and largest botanical gardens in the world, and covering 250 acres are the The New York Botanical Gardens. Located in the Bronx , these parklands are made up of 48 gardens and plant collections, as well as thousands of shrubs and trees. A highlight here is the Everett Children's Adventure Garden that covers 8 acres. 200 Street and Kazimiroff Blvd (718 817 8700)

Staten Island Botanical Garden
The Staten Island Botanical Garden has a quaint Victorian charm in it;'s 90 acres of gardens, ponds, forests and paths.(718 273 8200)

Queens Botanical Garden
The Queens Botanical Garden covers 39 acres beautiful gardens and greenery. Located at the northeast corner of Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Prospect Park
Prospect Park is a 526-acre Park which immediately surrounds its visitors with nature. The Park is home to many popular destinations. The Park also hosts hundreds of events annually, including concerts, sporting events, performing arts, festivals, and tours. Grand Army Plaza (718 965 8951)
